Chinanews, Guangzhou, Jun.1 – Nearly 500 cultural relics2 have been salvaged4 from a sunken ship of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). The local cultural relic1 protection bureau revealed that all these ancient things would be transferred to a museum in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.

 

Wei Jun, an expert from Guangzhou Institute of Archaeology5, said that the cultural relics discovered on the ship could make people better understand the ancient lifestyle and provide vivid material for researchers on history and archeology.

 

Our reporter saw some of these cultural relics on Wednesday, including gold bracelets6, silver ornaments7 and ceramics8.

 

The salvage3 project is the largest ever archeological probe in China. The Ministry9 of Finance has set up a special fund of 90 million yuan for this project.

 

It is estimated that there are 80 thousand cultural relics on the board.
