Thai football coach plays down chances to win China

BANGKOK - Thailand's national football team head coach Chanvit Phalajivin has asked fans not to expect too much when Thailand plays China in a warm-up match for the Asian Cup in Bangkok next Wednesday.

"Because of Thailand Premier1 League fixtures2 this weekend, we can only get the players together for training after Sunday," Chanvit was quoted by the Bangkok Post as saying on Wednesday.

Chanvit said there would be about 30 players in the squad3. "For the match against China I just want to see which players are ready for the Asian Cup and where there are any weaknesses. So please don 't expect too much."

He said he would be happy for Thai stars currently4 playing in Vietnam and Singapore to join the squad, but he does not know whether their clubs will make them available.

The match next Wednesday will kick off at 6:30 p.m. (2330GMT) at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium.
