Currently "Aike" can make stir-fried or roasted cuisines1, including Sichuan-Zhejiang- and Shangdong-style dishes.
 
Chinanews, Shenzhen, Oct. 10 – The first Chinese cooking robot jointly3 developed by Shanghai Jiaotong University and Yangzhou University is shown to the public on Oct. 8.

 

The name of this robot is "Aike." Its appearance and operating process are similar to an automated4 teller5 machine (ATM). One just needs to prepare ingredients and choose what kind of dish one wishes to make, then the whole cooking process can be left to the care of "Aike."

 

Currently "Aike" can make stir-fried or roasted cuisines, including Sichuan-Zhejiang- and Shangdong-style dishes. Scientists have already set up a comprehensive standard for the cooking process like heating control, which can guarantee the food taste to be pure and wonderful.

 

Zhou Xiaoyan, a judge from World Association of Chinese Cuisine2, reveals that she has tasted some 60 kinds of dishes cooked by the robot, and she thinks their quality has met the standards by professional cooks.

 

The most important difference between Chinese and Western cuisines is the unique Chinese cooking styles, like stir-frying, quick-boiling, etc. "Aike" is also the first Chinese cooking robot in the world.

 

"Aike" has applied6 for 50 kinds of intellectual property rights, including several international patents. Scientists are now trying their best to reduce its production costs, to the extent that ordinary families buy them at a reasonable price in the future.
