China to ally anti-AIDS NGOs

Chinanews, Beijing, March 7 – China Association of STD & AIDS Prevention and Control is working hard to build an information platform for all anti-AIDS NGOs in China, and it is planning to bring all of them together.

 

NGOs play an indispensable role in fighting AIDS in China, as they are more flexible, charitable and direct than government entities1, enterprises or individuals.

 

However, NGOs in China are not strong enough yet. Their working ability, management, inter-organization communication and transparency need to be enhanced at once.

 

The alliance of anti-AIDS NGOs will be funded by the governments of China and Britain, which will pool their resources to work in a more coordinated2 and active way. It can be estimated that Chinese anti-AIDS NGOs will take up more responsibilities in projects against the disease both at home and abroad.
