look before you leap 三思而后行

当长辈规劝晚辈做事要考虑后果，不可冲动，以免造成不可挽回的损失时，常常说要“三思而后行”。

 

“三思而后行”，出自《论语》，意思是“多次思考再行动（think twice before you do）”，形容做事谨慎，小心稳妥。与英文谚语“look before you leap”意思相近，表示“carefully consider the possible consequences before taking action”。

 

例句：

 

如果你现在欺骗你的老板，你认为一旦他发现后会发生什么？我想说，三思而后行！

If you deceive your boss now, what do you think will happen if he finds out about it? I mean, look before you leap!

 

我不是说你不应该签那套公寓的租约。我只是说你应该三思而后行。

I'm not saying you shouldn't sign the lease for that apartment. I'm just saying you should look before you leap.
