run out of credit 手机欠费

很多同学会疑惑，手机欠费不就是没有钱吗？直接用“My phone has no money.”不就行了，多简单啊！其实这样的表达太中式了，地道的英语表达应该是“my cellphone ran out of credit.”

 

“run out of”是“用光，耗尽”的意思，“credit”除了“信用、信誉、积分”之外，还有“话费”的意思。

 

举个例子：

 

The study found that nearly 53 percent of mobile phone users in Britain tend to be anxious when they "lose their mobile phone, run out of battery or credit, or have no network coverage¹".

该研究发现，英国有近53%的手机用户在“手机丢失、手机没电或余额不足、或者不在服务区”的时候会感到焦虑不安。
