美籍华人数学家丘成桐获马塞尔·格罗斯曼奖

Chinese-born American mathematician¹ Shing-Tung Yau has won the Marcel Grossmann Award. The award was delivered at the Fifteenth Marcel Grossmann Meeting in Rome, July 2, 2018.

 

美籍华人数学家丘成桐获马塞尔·格罗斯曼奖，该奖于7月2日在罗马举行的第15届马塞尔·格罗斯曼会议上颁布。
 

 

It's the first time a Chinese-born mathematician has won the award.

 

Yau has been given his award for a proof of the positivity of total mass in the theory of general relativity and perfecting as well the concept of quasi-local mass, for his proof of the Calabi conjecture², for his continuous inspiring role in the study of black holes physics.

 

The Marcel Grossmann Award is one of the most important awards in physics. 

 

Chinese physicians Chen-Ning Yang and Chinese-American physicist³ Tsung-Dao Lee have won previous Marcel Grossmann Awards. 

 

For twitter: Chinese mathematician Yau Shing-tung has won the Marcel Grossmann Award, the first time the award was given to a Chinese-born mathematician.
