2016年90万外国人在中国大陆工作

New stats have shown that over 900 thousand foreigners were employed on the Chinese mainland last year.

 

新统计数据显示，2016年在中国大陆有超过90万外国人被雇佣。

 

The country of origin of foreign experts also expanded from 21 to 73 from 2001 to 2016.

 

Zhang Jianguo, head of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, said foreign experts are important and indispensable resources in the country's development process.

 

He said since foreigners help China achieve economic and social prosperity, they should be offered opportunities in sectors¹ with specific demand for them.

 

The official also urged measures to prevent "brain waste," while unskilled foreign workers demanding ultra-high wages should be denied.

 

China has streamlined the paperwork needed to secure foreigners a work visa in a bid to attract more foreign talent.

 

The trial program has unified² the previous 2 permits into a single work permit, making it easier for foreigners to work in China.
