菲律宾总统当选人希望改善中菲关系

Philippine President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has met with Chinese ambassador Zhao Jianhua, in hopes of enhancing bilateral¹ relations.

 

菲律宾总统当选人罗德里戈·杜特尔特与中国大使赵剑华举行会面，希望加强双边关系。
 

 

This comes after Duterte remarked on his desire for talks with China over the row in the South China Sea.

 

Zhao expressed the view that China is also willing to work with the Philippines to strengthen bilateral cooperation to benefit peoples of the two countries.

 

China's relations with the Philippines have worsened after the latter unilaterally initiated² an arbitration³ case against China in 2013 over territory in the South China Sea.

 

China has repeated opposed the case, suggesting the dispute be settled through bilateral dialogues.
