Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has pardoned 100 prisoners, including an al-Jazeera TV journalist from Canada.

This comes ahead of al-Sisi's trip to New York for the 70th session of the U.N. General Assembly.
 
Al Jazeera reporter Mohamed Fahmy says this marks the end of a long ordeal1 for him.
 
"We're going to travel the world, we're going to celebrate, we're going to party, and we just really hope that this is, our families have suffered so much since the beginning of this trial, and we're very happy that President Sisi took this action and released us." 
 
Fahmy, along with 2 other Al Jazeera journalists, were sentenced to 3-years in prison in a retrial last month on charges of operating without a press license2 and broadcasting material harmful to Egypt.
