Typhoon Noul crashed ashore1 on the north-eastern tip of the Philippines.

The category five storm is packing winds of up to 185-kilometers per hour near the centre. 
 
It has made landfall about 400-kilometers north of the capital, Manila.
 
People living along the coastal2 areas have been evacuated4, as storm surges of up to two metres are hitting the area.
 
"We weren't supposed to leave our home, but they came and told us to evacuate3 because we are living on the coastline and the waves might destroy our homes."
 
The Super Typhoon is expected to trigger landslides5 and flash flooding in parts of the Cagayan Valley.
 
A number of flights out of the Philippines have been cancelled.
 
Forecasters are expecting the storm to make a turn to the east and track away from Taiwan over the next 24-hours.
