winter conscription 冬季征兵

China will draft more well-educated young people into the army, according to a national conscription tele-conference.

 

据全国征兵电话会议消息，我国将吸收更多高学历年轻人入伍。

 

To draft someone into the army就是“征某人入伍”，“应征入伍”自然就是be/get drafted into the army。新闻报道中常用winter conscription来表示“冬季征兵”，应征入伍的人叫conscripts。

 

从高校招募的students-turned compulsory¹ servicemen（大学生义务兵）均可享受一定的preferential policies（优惠政策），包括compensation to college tuition fees（补偿学费）、free vocational education for demobilized soldiers（退役后免费职业教育）等。退役后还统一发放gratuity（退役金）。
