military drill 军事演习

The People's Liberation Army conducted a series of  military drills over the past few weeks to fine-tune its capabilities¹ of amphibious operations.

 

最近几周，中国人民解放军进行了一系列军事演习，演练两栖作战能力。

 

Military drill就是“军事演习”。近期举行演习的包括南京、济南、成都、广州四个Military Command Area（军区），分别进行了live-ammunition drill landing combat troops（作战部队登陆实弹演练）和amphibious landing drill（两栖登陆演练）。演练模拟了一系列场景，包括infiltrating² an uninhabited island（潜入无人岛）、 fighting in various settings on the island（岛上各场景作战）、clearing land mines （清理地雷）以及occupying an enemy command site（占领敌方据点）等。这一系列军演主要是为了演练joint-operations capability³（联合作战能力）。

 

海军landing craft（登陆舰）和combat vessels（战斗舰）、空军ground attack aircraft（强击机）、 bombers⁴（轰炸机）和 fighter jets（战斗机），以及 ground force's aviation wing（陆军空战队）的 attack helicopters（武装直升机）等均在军演中发挥了重要作用。
