Beijing on Wednesday warned Manila not to "further harm bilateral1 relations" in response to Manila's repeated provocations2, which have worsened the month-long Huangyan Island impasse3.
 
菲方近一个月来不断在黄岩岛制造事端挑衅，使中菲黄岩岛对峙僵局更趋紧张，对此中方于周三警告称希望菲方“不要进一步损伤两国关系”。
 
上面报道中，Huangyan Island impasse就是“黄岩岛僵局”的英文表达，也可称作Huangyan Island standoff。Impasse的英文解释为“a situation that is so difficult that no progress can be made”，即“僵局”，英文中表达同样意思的词语还有：deadlock，stalemate，dead end等。例如：The negotiation4 has reached a dead end.（谈判陷入了僵局。）
