Chinanews, Shanghai, Feb.1 – Flower deliverers are in great demand now in Shanghai with the Valentine's Day (Feb.14) drawing near.

 

As the Spring Festival (Chinese lunar New Year) will fall on Feb. 18 this year, four days after the Valentine's Day, express delivery1 companies will start their New Year holidays soon. Therefore flower delivery has become a serious headache for many flower shops.

 

Flower deliverers, most being migrant workers, will go back to their hometowns for the Chinese New Year. With the hot selling of flowers these days, delivery crisis2 is visiting many flower shops.

 

Most shops are willing3 to pay high salaries up to 200 yuan per day to a deliverer during this hard time, which then have attracted many students looking for part-time jobs.

 

People have begun to order "Valentine roses" about half month earlier than last year. It can be found in Caojiabin Flower Market in Shanghai that the price of an ordinary red rose has doubled to 4 yuan a couple of days ago. Many flower shop owners said it would sell at least 10 yuan on the Valentine's Day and Spring Festival, while the price of every piece of green and blue rose would hit 100 yuan.

 

According4 to a flower shop, it receives no less than 10 orders for flowers every day currently5, most of which asked for delivery during the 3 days before the Valentine's Day. And an online flower shop gets more than 30 order forms every day.
