Supporters say it would offer a dignified⁵ way to die for those over 70 who just want to give up living, without having to resort to difficult or unreliable solitary⁶（孤独的，独居的） suicide methods.

They might include widows（寡妇） and widowers⁷（鳏夫） overwhelmed by grief, those unwilling⁸ to face the frailties⁹（虚弱，弱点） of extreme old age or people determined¹⁰ to ‘get out while they’re ahead’ and meet death on their own terms.

The assistants who administered the deadly cocktail¹¹ of sedatives¹²（镇静剂） would need to be certified, campaigners said.
