Chinanews, Shanghai, December 6 – A tragic1 accident took place on the afternoon of December 3, 2007, at Shanghai Shooting & Archery Sport Center, in which Chen Zejun, a 20-year-old clay pigeon shooter, was shot in the abdomen2 in an accident. Though Chen was sent to hospital immediately, doctors were unable to save his life, as several of his organs had suffered both scratches and burns caused by the splintered bullet.

 

The accident occurred at 6:30 pm, when one of Chen's team mates joked with Chen, loading a supposed dud in his gun and fired. The dud went off this time and hit Chen in the abdomen, causing serious bleeding.

 

The Sport Center sent for doctors at once, but Chen died two hours later in hospital, as the wound was too fatal.
