Shanghai females blamed for walking on street in pajamas

Chinanews, Shanghai, October 31 – Shanghai Female Talents Research Center hosted a women’s forum1 on October 30. At the forum, a report on the behavior of Shanghai women was released, and “walking on street in pajamas2” is considered as the most improper3 one of all.

 

The report is based on the result of a joint4 survey conducted by the Women Research Center of Shanghai University and the Shanghai Municipal Women’s Federation5. The respondents included native Shanghainese, non-locals and foreigners.

 

Most respondents say that Shanghai women shouldn’t walk on street in pajamas or sleeping robes. Besides, they are sometimes too aggressive and too mean. Some of them talk or laugh too loud in public places. It is also said that some Shanghai women indulge in the bad habit of gambling6. Besides, many Shanghai women have the habit of giving physical punishment to kids when they make mistakes. Some of them are blamed for being unkind to their parents or parents-in-law.

 

Some respondents say, while abiding by traditional virtues, Shanghai women should learn from modern women their free and independent spirit
