Oct. 9 - Mayor Tom Barrett suggested naming October 7 as Yi Jianlian Day, at a reception party held Sunday for Yi Jianlian, website cn.yahoo reported.

 

Following Yao Ming, Yi could become the second Chinese basketball player to enjoy the honour---December 11 was named Yao Ming Day in 2002 by the Houston Rockets.

 

Yi's fans prepared anxiously for his arrival, more than 500 of them attended the party, including members of the Yi Fan Club, Senator1 Herb Kohl, owner of the Milwaukee Bucks2, Mayor Tom Barett, and Huang Ping, the consul3 general of China in Chicago.

 

"This kind of reception make a lot sense, introducing Yi to our fans will do a lot of good for his life in Milwaukee," director of the Yi Fan Club Wang Dian said. "We are happy about Yi's arrival, we can enjoy his basketball skills here, we are proud of him, he will play an important role in bridging Miwaukee and China."
