Chinanews, Lhasa, September 19 – Tibet Autonomous1 Region has recently updated its regulations on protecting cultural relics2, requiring that all the new buildings in the region must not affect the original appearance of historical buildings located next to them.

 

Tibet has more than 2,000 non-movable cultural heritages. It released regulations on protecting them in 1990, which were updated in 1996 for the first time.

 

The central government also attaches great importance to protecting Tibetan cultural relics. The Ministry3 of Finance has allocated4 330 million yuan for renovation5 of the Potala Palace, Norbu Lingka and Sagya Monastery6, the three most important ancient buildings in Tibet.
