Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 5 – China's agricultural products are among the top in the world in terms of quality. Chinese agricultural products have not only met the demands of Chinese people, but also enriched the supply of world agricultural market, said Sun Zhengcai, Minister of Agriculture, on Monday.

 

At present, the agricultural products from China have been exported to more than 210 countries and regions in the world. China has exported more than 70 varieties of agricultural products to other countries. In order to guarantee the quality of these products, China has set a filing system for all exported goods. It has applied1 a strict checking and quarantine system to goods at their places of origin. China has applied a standardized2 production line to the making of its agricultural products. Meanwhile, China has carried out more exchanges and cooperation with Codex Alimentarius Commission and other international organizations to make sure that the exported goods from China able to reach related international standards, Sun told this reporter in an interview.

 

Information shows that over the past four years, more than 99% of the Chinese goods exported to the United States, European Union and Japan have met the standards of these countries. According to a report issued by the Ministry3 of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, in 2006, about 99.42% of Chinese foods exported to Japan had met Japanese national standards. For the United States, related quality conformity4 rate reached 98.69% and for European Union, it reached 99.38%. This shows that Chinese exported agricultural products were welcomed by consumers in the importing country, said Sun.

 

In recent years, the Ministry of Agriculture has worked hard to improve the food safety of Chinese agricultural goods and great achievement has been made in the process. Generally speaking, China can guarantee the qualitative5 safety of its agricultural products. There is no need for consumers to worry about Chinese food safety. Monitoring result shows that at present, the quality conformity rate of Chinese agricultural products has reached the highest level in history, Sun noted6.
