Chinanews, Beijing, Aug 29 – The first feeder aircraft that China is making with its own intellectural property rights, ARJ21, is expected to come off the production line by the end of this year. It will make its debut1 flight in March next year, said China's AVIC I Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. (ACAC) on Wednesday.

 

ARJ21 can seat 70-100 people on board. It is a jet aircraft driven by turbofan engines and can fly 2,000 sea miles at one time. Compared with other feeder aircraft made in foreign countries, ARJ21 can fly in various kinds of regional routes; it is comfortable to seat in and it costs less. In addition, it can sustain the extremely hot weather conditions in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region and can fly through areas with sophisticated topographical features in China's west region.

 

At present, Shanghai Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Shenzhen Finance Leasing Company, and Shanghai Electric Leasing Company have ordered altogether 71 ARJ21 aircraft. Based on the related contract, aircraft buyers can have the first ARJ21 aircraft in the third quarter of 2009.
