The survey was done by interviewing some 3,058 people in 33 cities across China. It shows that although 98% of the people know about credit cards, nearly half (46%) say they have never thought of applying for one.
Among those who have never applied3 for any credit card, nearly 30% say they prefer cash to any form of cards. 21% of them think one debit card is enough for them and 14% of the people say they don't like the idea of borrowing money from others, including banks.
Information shows that most Chinese people still stick to their old habit of paying in cash. They don't like to see their account being overdrawn4. Although credit card has been in use in China for 20 years now, most Chinese still feel uncomfortable with the idea of using more money than one has.
