Chinanews, Shenzhen, Aug. 18 – The famous Broadway musical “42nd Street” will be staged in Shenzhen this month. The play describes how a common girl Peggy Sewyer becomes a Broadway star. The musical has been staged in 3,486 shows worldwide.

 

The 135-minute-long “42nd Street” will be staged in Shenzhen with accompaniment by the original band of the musical. Shenzhen city government also invested1 in the performance of the play in the hope of reducing ticket fees and making the musical accessible to more ordinary people in the southern special economic zone.

 

In the next 3 years, famous dramas including “The King and I”, “The Sound of Music”, “The Wizard of OZ” and “West Side Story” will also be introduced to China.
