Zhengzhou, June 22 - Instead of wearing an exotic1 black gown for graduation, some students in the Zhengzhou University, in central China's Henan province, have held their graduation ceremony in a traditional Chinese style, with Han Dynasty costumes and traditional manners.

 

Zhengzhou evening post reported the story.

 

On the morning of June 21, the group of students shot their graduation photos before the school's library. Chang Jia is the organizer of the activity. She says that, in recent years, the kimono of Japan and the traditional clothes of Korea have become increasingly popular in China. However, many people have forgotten our traditions. It inspired her to initiate2 such an activity. "We're not just returning to the ancient times," Chang Jia says, "we want to remind people not to forget our classic."

 

Besides taking the pictures, they also saluted3 to their teachers in a traditional Chinese way.

 

Guo Huihua is one of the teachers. Guo says that she felt shocked when seeing that her student saluted her in a traditional way. It reminded her of the importance of her job, Guo comments.

 

"Four years of studying together is valuable memory," one participant Li Zaibin says, "Concluding our college life in a traditional way can help us understand our traditional culture more and at the same time, give us an impressive graduation ceremony we can memorize for ever."
