Oct. 25 - Last week's China Open finalists Chen Hong and Bao Chunlai both fell victim to their respective rivals in the first round of the badminton World Cup in Yiyang, central China.

 

Compatriots Lin Dan and Chen Jin reached the next stage with landslide1 victories over their first-round opponents respectively.

 

Chinese women shuttlers have swept their foriegn counterparts in singles and doubles competitions to cruise into the second round.

 

Newly-crowned men's doubles world champions Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng and Olympic mixed doubles title holders2 Zhang Jun/Gao Ling also advanced to the second round.
