Chinanews, Hangzhou, April 30 - The 3rd China International Cartoon Carnival1 was kicked off in Hangzhou of Zhejiang Province on April 28, 2007. Fuwa, the mascot2 of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Lele, the mascot of the Carnival, Disney Stars, and quite a lot of other famous cartoon figures from both home and abroad have been here to join in the celebration.

 

The carnival was hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. Its theme of "cartoons and harmonious3 life", has attracted numerous cartoon makers4 from 14 countries and regions. On April 28 alone, contracts on over 50 cooperative projects were signed, involving a total turn sum of about 4 billion yuan.

 

The production of animations5 in China had been increased by nearly 100% from 3 years ago. In 2006 alone, about 823,000 minutes of animations were made. The figure in the first 3 months of 2007 was even more amazing: 22,000 minutes, 7,000 minutes longer than the same period last year.
