Chinanews, Beijing, Apr. 16 – About 1.63 million people, whose annual income exceeded 120,000 yuan, had reported their annual income to tax authorities by April 2, the last day that Chinese government set for people with an annual income of more than 120,000 yuan. The figure basically met the government's expectation. The average annual income of these people reached 310,000 yuan, the General Administration of Taxation1 said on Thursday.

 

In terms of region, over 80% of these people are from Guangdong Province, Beijing and Shanghai. In terms of industrial classification, most of them work in finance, telecommunication2, or medical sectors3, which are generally regarded as highly profitable sectors. In addition, many of these people are company managers, individual investors4, or owners of private companies. About 90% of their earnings5 come from five sources, including salary earnings and stock dividends6.

 

Previously7, Chinese tax authorities predicted that about 1.7 million people had made an annual income of over 120,000 yuan. It turned out that the actual figure was pretty close to their estimation, said a person working in a taxation department.
