Chinanews. Nanning, September 29 – Lion dance is another pop art in China besides dragon dance, both of which are necessary parts in celebrations. Lion dance is widely liked by the people of many other countries, as it is also a very good martial1 art.

 

Recently, Wuzhou Lion Dance Championship was held in Wuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous2 Region, with its finals on September 27. Twelve teams from all around the globe did all their best to give a marvelous performance in the competition. The championship title finally went to Tengxian County Team from Guangxi, with a final score of 18.45.

 

The finals required the contestants3 to perform dance on several poles of different heights from 0.7 m to 2.7 m, and there was hardly enough room for one foot on the top of a pole, which made the competition more exciting than audiences had expected.

 

The two teams to fight for the championship in the finals were the Malaysian Team and Tengxian County Team. The Malaysians performed a series of highly difficult routines like a wonderful ballet show on the poles that made a very deep impression on both the judges and the audience.

 

However, the real thrill came only after the Tengxian Team came on stage. A fabulous4 bounce show by six beautiful girls did not only win cheers, but also told the audience how great a lion dance show could be. Then it was the time of the lion, which jumped over a 2.85-meter-long steel cable bridge, and performed all kinds of tricks on the cable that almost held the audience's breath all through the show.

 

Tengxian Team with its impeccable performance finally carried off the palm.
