Chinese Peng stops dream run at China Open

Sept. 23 - Chinese wild card Peng Shuai was forced to stop her run to the China Open final as she lost to second seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia 6-0, 6-2 in a semifinal of the WTA Tier-two tennis tournament1 on Saturday.

 

Peng lost the first set at love in just 21 minutes before many fans took their seats at the Centre Court of the Beijing Tennis Centre.

 

Peng found no way out too in the second set, losing 6-2 in 28 minutes.

 

Statistics2 showed a complete distance between the two as the Russian scored double points with 55 against 27 for Peng, hit more winners and made less double faults and unforced errors.

 

World number five and 2004 U.S. Open winner Kuznetsova, who won the Bali title last week, has improved to an eight match-win streak3.
