Chinanews, Beijing, Mar1. 28 – It is reported that China will publicize standards for checking toxic2 materials in cosmetics4, and all kinds of ingredients, including natural plant extractions, should be marked on the cosmetic3 containers.

 

Cosmetics production in China has increased by 15% annually5. It is estimated that the total sales volume of cosmetics in China will reach 80 billion yuan in 2008. Experts also point out that some producers have added chemical ingredients banned by the government in their cosmetic products.

 

According to Chinese Academy of Inspection6 and Quarantine (CAIQ), the new standards covers some 80 kinds of toxic materials and 15 ways to check chemical materials.

 

Wang Chao, expert from CAIQ, said that the China’s standards meet the international ones.
