Chinanews, Harbin, March 19 - A lot of "nest-warming housekeepers2" have emerged in Heilongjiang Province recently, to provide timely service to empty-nest elders there.

 

The elders can call their housekeepers at any time when they need help, for example, when they need to do some shopping or going out. Then the housekeeper1 will come. In fact, the housekeepers offer a service similar to that of nurses, but more flexible, and most importantly, the service of "nest-warming housekeepers" is free of charge.

 

Li Xiaona is a famous "nest-warming housekeeper" in Mudanjiang. She is only 22 years old, but she serves all the empty-nest elders in the 15 apartment buildings in her community. She does not only help them with daily chores like shopping, but even as travel companions to go as far as Hainan Province in the south of the country. Sometimes, Li even works as their family doctors.

 

"Nest-warming housekeepers" like Li are from comprehensive old-age care centers in Heilongjiang. These centers are run on a charitable basis, and all their "nest-warming housekeepers" are fully3 qualified4 to take care of empty-nest elders.

 

Currently, thousands of empty-nest elders in Heilongjiang can enjoy their service, and the housekeepers even help to set up the first health database of empty-nest elders.

 

"They are always there when I need them, and they won't disturb my quiet life," said Liu, an empty-nest elder in Mudanjiang.
