Chinanews, Shanghai, Mar1. 10 – The rose wedding ceremony, which is very popular in Shanghai and has been performed in the city for nine years, will take place in Russia as part of a special program of the Shanghai Week prepared for the Year of China event held in Russia this year. During the ceremony, 15 newlyweds from Shanghai will attend a group wedding ceremony in Russia.

 

This year, China will hold the Year of China event in Russia. To celebrate the event, a Shanghai Week will be observed in Saint Petersburg in Russia, a sister city of Shanghai. During the Shanghai Week, activities such as the Shanghai Museum Collections Exhibition, Shanghai City Exhibition,and “Shanghai Window” Book Fair will debut2 in Russia. The rose wedding ceremony will also take place as a special event to mark the occasion.

 

The seven-day wedding ceremony will be performed in June. It consists mainly of two parts. First, the new couples will attend a large group wedding ceremony in a square in Saint Petersburg, dressed in cheongsam and Tang Dynasty-style robes. One of the couples will perform traditional Chinese wedding ceremony during which bride and groom3 will pay ceremonial obeisances4 to their parents and the groom will then lift a red cover from the head of the bride.

 

After this, the new couples will leave for the Summer Palace in the Gulf5 of Finland, Baltic Sea, to take pictures. The brides will wear the white wedding gown then and the new couples will make some handicrafts, themed “dreams in my heart”, to show their longing6 for marriage life.
